$SPX & $QQQ

Treasury moved the tape at 8:31. They are doubling the size of long-end buyback operations, from a $2 billion max per op to at least $4 billion, starting September 9. The long end caught a bid instantly, the 10 year dropped from 4.69% to 4.64%, the dollar got dumped, and equities ripped straight through the morning highs. Everything is green now. Small caps up over 1%, QQQ through its 720 Call Wall, SPY through 770 and hunting 775. VIX pinned under 15.5.

The level map repriced with it. SPX flipped 7700 from Call Wall resistance into weak support and left a gap at 7713.95 right above, with 7725 the next key and 7750 into 7800 over that. QQQ cleared 720 and now has 725 and 730 in front of it. Hold 7700 and the buyers stay in control and the gap fill is the target. Lose it and the whole thing was a headline fade, which is exactly how these liquidity announcements usually end when the follow through does not show up.

Then it is the Fed. FOMC minutes at 2:00 from the July meeting, the one where three members wanted a hike. The market wants to know if that dissent is growing and what it says about September. A liquidity headline in front of it makes the minutes matter more, not less.

Let's have a sesh.
