$SPX & $QQQ

Retail sales just came in ugly, down 0.6% against a +0.1% consensus, and the tape shrugged. SPY flat at 778 premarket, QQQ up 0.22%, VIX sub-15 and drifting lower. A consumer miss that gets bought tells you this market only cares about the rate cut path.
The context is yesterday's flat PPI stretching the S&P to its 27th record close of the year. Autos and online drove the retail miss, down 1.8% and 2.2%, so the soft print feeds the September cut narrative instead of scaring anyone. Opening on top of the Call Wall in a low vol tape means dealers lean against rips, so nothing to chase until 7800 breaks and holds.
Retail sales was the main event and it already hit at 8:30. Business inventories and Michigan consumer sentiment land at 10, and that's the whole card into the weekend.
Let's have a sesh.
