Morning Market Notes 05-15-26
Market Calendar

$SPX & $QQQ

Tech getting smoked premarket — QQQ down 1.76% and already trading under the 715 Put Wall. SPY off 1.22%, also under its 745 Put Wall. VIX bid hard, up 11.65% to 19.27.
This is a de-risking OPEX morning and one way to celebrate Powell's last day. Semis are leading the tape down — Intel off 4%, AMD and Micron both down 3%, Nvidia 2%. Treasury yields backing up doesn't help, and the Trump–Xi summit wrapped with no real breakthrough, so trade-headline risk is still hanging over everything. The Dow's holding up better than the Mag7 names — DIA only off 0.97% — so there's some rotation cushioning the index. We'll see if that holds once the cash open hits.
Macro day is light: Empire State manufacturing at 8:30, then Industrial Production and Capacity Utilization at 9:15.
Let's have a sesh.
